The sighting comes months after Mackie shared with PEOPLE that dating isn’t easy for him. “The idea of dating is really hard,” he admitted. “How do you trust someone? How do you put yourself in a position to be vulnerable? How do you know what someone really wants from you when all you want is to just be loved and appreciated?”
He also made it clear that he avoids modern dating methods, joking, “I’m older and I don’t do the apps.”

Mackie was previously married to his childhood sweetheart, Sheletta Chapital, with whom he shares four sons. They divorced in 2018, but Mackie has spoken often about how central fatherhood is to his identity.
