Tracee Ellis Ross Says Obama Failed Her As A Friend—Here's Why!

Tracee Ellis Ross isn’t afraid to keep it real — even when it comes to her famous friends. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Black-ish star recalled running into Barack Obama after a breakup.

According to Ross, the former president teased, “I could have told you that.” Her response? “Well, you failed as a friend. Like, it was your job to say that before.”

Looking for Love, Not Apps

Despite the playful jab, Ross said she still turns to Obama for dating advice. At 52, the Golden Globe winner admitted that she doesn’t enjoy dating apps, comparing them to “shopping” for people. Instead, she prefers to meet potential partners “in the wild” or through setups from friends.

“I like to get set up,” she explained, though she admitted she’s never asked Michelle Obama to play matchmaker, which is something she now considers a missed opportunity.

Close with the Obamas

Ross shares a warm relationship with the former first family. Earlier this year, she appeared on Michelle Obama’s IMO podcast alongside Craig Robinson, describing the experience as “a great time.”

Her connection with the Obamas has become part of her approach to navigating love and life, even if it means teasing the former president when he stays quiet on red flags.

Dating Disasters and New Adventures

Like anyone, Ross has her share of awkward dating stories. She shared one particularly bad experience where her date ignored her to watch a basketball game on his phone. “He put his hand up, as in like, ‘Don’t let me miss anything,’” she said, shaking her head at the memory.

But Ross isn’t dwelling on bad dates. She’s starring in a new series this year titled Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross, embracing independence and celebrating life on her own terms.
