Super Mom of 19 Children Earns Her Doctorate Degree—See Her Journey!

In an incredible display of determination and time management, Saudi mother Hamda Al Ruwaili has earned her doctoral degree—all while raising 19 children, working a full-time job, and running an online business.

Hamda, who is in her 40s, says planning and family support were the key ingredients to her success. “I don’t like chaos or randomness,” she said. “So, I always plan my day carefully.”

A Full House and a Full Schedule

With 10 boys and 9 girls, life in Hamda’s household is anything but quiet. But she found a way to make it work. During the day, she balances her job in the mental health sector with taking care of her children. At night, she focuses on her studies and e-commerce business.

She completed her bachelor’s, master’s, and now her doctorate before turning 43. She is currently in the final stages of defending her thesis.

Inspired by Leaders, Motivated by Family

Raising such a large family is a challenge, but Hamda found inspiration in unexpected places.

“My role models are teachers managing full classrooms and military officers leading large teams,” she explained. “For me, raising one child is like raising ten. I respond to their needs, encourage their hobbies, and help them achieve their goals.”

Her approach is working—her children excel academically, with none scoring below 94% in school, and some even achieving perfect scores.

One of her daughters, a high school student, is recognized for her exceptional talent and is supported by the King Abdulaziz Centre for the Gifted in Riyadh.

"I Never Gave Up on My Dream"

Despite the demands of motherhood, Hamda remained committed to her academic journey.

“Even with all my responsibilities, I never gave up on my dream,” she said. “This success wasn’t easy, but it’s the result of careful planning and continuous family support.”

Her story is proof that with the right mindset and strong support, even the biggest challenges can be overcome.
