Could Melania’s oversized hat have been part of the issue? Honigman thinks so. “Trump is clearly unsure how to show affection with her impressive hat in the way,” she observed.
However, the expert pointed out that the awkward moment could have been avoided. “Melania could have angled her face to present her cheek, and Donald could have bent lower to meet her halfway. But neither made an effort.”
