For most couples, an age gap of a few years is barely worth mentioning. But for Miracle Pogue and her husband, Charles, their 61-year age difference has sparked conversations far and wide. Despite the skeptics, the Mississippi couple is focused on their future—one that includes starting a family.

An Unlikely Love Story

Miracle, 24, met Charles, 85, in 2019 while working at a laundromat in Starkville. What began as a casual friendship quickly grew into something more, and within a year, their bond had turned romantic.

“I found out his age when we asked each other about our birthdays,” Miracle recalled. “I thought he was maybe 60 or 70 because he looks so good. He’s always up and active.”

By February 2020, Charles had proposed, and the couple tied the knot last summer.

Winning Over Family and Critics

While Miracle’s mother and grandfather supported the relationship, her father, Kareem, needed convincing.

“My granddad said if I was happy, then he was happy,” she explained. “But my dad? He was like, ‘Hell no, ma’am, not at all.’”

Eventually, Kareem came around, even walking his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day.

“If he hadn’t, he would have lost me forever,” Miracle admitted. “But once he met Charles and got to know him, he loved him.”

The couple has also faced public scrutiny, with strangers voicing their opinions online. However, Charles isn’t fazed.

“People making comments doesn’t make a difference,” he said. “We just let them do their thing. We’re very happy together.”

Dreaming of Parenthood

Now, Miracle and Charles are setting their sights on the next chapter—starting a family.

“I want him to have another generation,” Miracle said. “We’re looking into IVF to see what our options are.”

The couple has already visited a fertility clinic, though Miracle admitted they felt judged.

“People assume things before even knowing us,” she shared. “But at the end of the day, as long as I get my baby, that’s all that matters.”

Facing the Future Together

Despite Charles’ energy and enthusiasm, Miracle acknowledges the reality of their situation.

“I know realistically I’ll be around longer than him,” she said. “So I try to experience as much as I can with him. We try to live it up.”

That mindset became especially important last Thanksgiving when Charles battled COVID.

“I prepared myself for the worst,” she admitted. “But the way he gets up and goes every day, he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.”

Charles remains optimistic about their future together, and so does Miracle.

“He’s my knight in shining armor,” she said with a smile.

For now, the couple is making the most of every moment—proving that when it comes to love, age is just a number.
