Shoppers at a Stop & Shop in Quincy, Massachusetts, couldn’t believe their eyes when Mark Wahlberg walked in and grabbed a spot at the checkout line—but not as a customer.
The A-list actor was back where it all began, bagging groceries at the store where he worked as a teenager.
“This is where the hustle started,” Wahlberg said in a video posted to Instagram, reminiscing about earning $3.65 an hour and saving for his first car. “It’s bagging groceries time. I’m getting my job back!”
Surprising Shoppers
The surprise visit had customers and employees buzzing. “There’s no way I’m seeing Mark Wahlberg bagging groceries,” said one stunned shopper. Employees jumped out of their registers to snap photos, while Wahlberg cracked jokes with the crowd. “The oranges are a little heavy for the paper. Double bag, anyone?” he teased.
Staying Humble
Despite his success, Wahlberg has stayed grounded. He grew up in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood as the youngest of nine kids and credits a local priest for helping him turn his life around. “Faith changed my life,” Wahlberg said.
Now living in Nevada with his family, Wahlberg is focused on raising his kids away from the spotlight. “I start every day with prayer,” he shared, emphasizing his commitment to family and faith.
A Day to Remember
For shoppers that day, it wasn’t just about groceries. It was about witnessing a Hollywood star who hasn’t forgotten his roots, proving that no matter how big you get, it’s where you started that shapes who you are.
