President Barack Obama had a lighthearted moment while voting in Chicago when a voter’s fiancé jokingly told him, “Mr. President, don’t touch my girlfriend.”

Obama, who was standing next to Aia Cooper at the voting booth, smiled and responded, “I really wasn’t planning on it.” He then turned to Cooper and playfully added, “This is an example of a brother just embarrassing you for no reason.”

In an interview later, Cooper admitted she was shocked and embarrassed by her fiancé Mike Jones’ joke. “I was just shaking,” she said.

Even before Jones spoke up, Cooper was already nervous about voting next to the President. “I was like, ‘Do I have to stand there? I don’t really want to stand there,’” she recalled.

Despite the unexpected exchange, the couple later laughed about it and even said they would be happy to invite the Obamas to their future wedding.
“I wanna meet Michelle,” Cooper said, hoping the First Lady wouldn’t think anything bad about her.

At the end of the voting session, Obama got back at Jones with a friendly gesture—he gave Cooper a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
“On the cheek, just the cheek – please, Michelle, don’t come after me – just the cheek!” Cooper joked afterward.
Obama laughed and turned to Cooper, saying, “Now, he’s really jealous.”
Even though the day was about politics, one couple walked away with an unforgettable memory—and a story to tell for years to come.
