Unlike his superstar sister, David lived a life away from the spotlight, working as a retired bridge builder superintendent for Simpson Construction. He is survived by his wife, Kay Parton, their three children, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
David’s legacy also lives on through his siblings, including Dolly, Stella, and others, while three of their brothers—Larry, Floyd, and Randy—have passed away.
Music That Keeps Memories Alive
Family has always inspired Dolly’s music. Her album Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith, and Fables celebrates five generations of family stories.
Using digital technology, Dolly even brought back the voices of late loved ones to sing alongside her. “It felt like having them back again,” she said, calling the process both emotional and healing.
